Product photography for e-commerce
Shopping online has never been so popular and it’s here to stay. You can find almost everything you need with a simple search which is often cost and time effective.
Although viewing a product online does not compare to experiencing it in front of you,
e-commerce environments are evolving, providing ever more inviting and user-friendly features.
The nature of today’s online stores mean customers can only view products on the screen. Making sure you present your products in the best possible way is paramount should you want to achieve sales and repeat custom.
The beauty of product photography is that once you have those great professional images, there is no sell by date on them!
Product photography for print
Before you start planning your product shoot, it is always worth considering where you envision your finished images being used. Why?, because, for example if you are taking out a costly magazine advert to promote your product, would you want that product to appear on a white background or shot in front of a more interesting product-specific background?
Products shot for print advertising purposes tend to be more dynamic, whereas products which are to be featured say, in an online catalogue tend to be crisp, clean and generally on a white background.
When approaching a photographer it always helps to have an idea of the type of image you want to put out there to your customers. Only you know your product inside-out and will know in what setting it best suits. Get those props ready!
